2026 Summer Supplement to Hickman Pierce Walker Federal Administrative Law Casebook

The 2026 summer supplement to our federal administrative law casebook can be downloaded here. From the introduction to the supplement:

Administrative law is a dynamic field, and there are always interesting new cases being decided and new debates unfolding. The past three years have seen some big administrative law cases from the Supreme Court. In particular, the Court’s decision to overturn Chevron deference fundamentally alters how instructors will need to address judicial review of agency interpretations of statutes. We had anticipated publishing a new Fifth Edition of the textbook in time for the 2026-27 academic year. But with the Court overruling Humphrey’s Executor this Term, we decided to push back the Fifth Edition to be ready for the 2027-28 academic year. In the meantime, this memo provides excerpts and notes for a handful of the most significant cases since the release of the Fourth Edition. For a more comprehensive and detailed summary of recent cases and events in administrative law, we recommend Kristin E. Hickman & Richard J. Pierce, Jr., Administrative Law Treatise (7th ed. 2024), and biannual supplements thereto. We hope you find this memo helpful.

For those who instructors who use our casebook, as always please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any feedback or questions. Feedback is particularly helpful as we finalize the next edition.
