Nominations Open — ABA Administrative Law Section Annual Award for Scholorship in Administrative Law

Each year, the ABA Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice recognizes outstanding scholarship in administrative law published during the prior year. I write to invite nominations for the 2025 award. Eligible books and articles are those published (copyrighted) in 2025.
Publications worthy of the Section’s award generally should be:
- Well written — clear, engaging, and accessible, demonstrating that important ideas need not be difficult to read;
- Carefully reasoned — presenting a focused analysis that advances a coherent central thesis;
- Broadly relevant — applicable across multiple programs, doctrines, or areas of administrative law;
- Timely and insightful — offering new perspectives on current issues in administrative law;
- Innovative or practical — either developing a new theoretical framework or proposing a meaningful solution to an administrative law problem; and
- Original — minimizing repetition and unnecessary recitation of existing work.
The award recipient will be selected by September 2026 and announced shortly thereafter.
Nomination Requirements
- A link to the work (for law review articles) an e-copy (for books); and
- A brief explanation of how the work satisfies the six criteria above (1-2 sentences for each criteria max).
Self-nominations are welcome.
