Follow-Up on ACUS Projects

Last month, Kazia Nowacki posted that “the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS) … is seeking consultants for six projects directed towards the development of formal recommendation to federal agencies and, where appropriate, Congress, the President, and the Judicial Conference.”

The deadline to submit a proposal for the following projects is June 12, 2026, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time:

Compliance Assistance Programs

Discovery in Agency Adjudication

Periodic Rules

Preventing, Detecting, and Resolving Overpayments in Federally Administered Programs

Processing Public Comments in Rulemaking

Regulatory Experimentation

Although I am a Senior Fellow of ACUS, no one has asked me to post about these projects. I’m doing so, however, because my first interaction with ACUS was as a consultant, and it was one of my favorite projects as an academic. I was still a fairly junior professor at the time, and I learned a lot from the experience. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that last year I became a consultant a second time; I am looking forward to going through the committee process again this fall. It is a great way to learn new information and study “admin law” from different perspectives.

So, if you are on the fence about whether to submit a proposal, do it.
